How To Romanticize Your Life In 3 Simple Steps
You know, sometimes life can feel like it’s just passing by, and you’re stuck in a rut.
Like you’re waiting for something big to happen before you can actually be happy.
I totally get that! I used to feel the same way. But guess what?
I figured out that happiness isn’t about some huge event in the future.
It’s about finding joy in the little things.
It’s totally possible to wake up excited for every single day, and I’m going to tell you how.
Romanticizing your life is all about learning to love your everyday routine.
Joy isn’t something you just stumble upon; you have to create it.
This isn’t about making your life look perfect; it’s about appreciating yourself and what you already have.
Steps To Romanticize Your Life

Step 1- Cultivating Self-Care
This is the easiest way to start when you want to romanticize your life because it’s simple, effective, and always leaves you feeling special.
Think small indulgences, little moments of luxury. You don’t need a massive budget for this!
I’m talking about swapping your worn-out pajamas for a silky set, treating yourself to a satin pillowcase, indulging in a face mask, or simply lighting your favorite candle while you journal.
It’s about choosing these little luxuries instead of just rushing around, watching Netflix until super late, and then dragging yourself to work in the morning.
How Do I Practice This

1. Romanticizing My Morning Routine:
My morning routine was how I learned to romanticize my life.
I used to wake up feeling awful every single day. Seriously, getting out of bed was the worst.
So, I decided to make some changes. Now, I wake up and immediately put on some music that makes me feel pumped.
I dance around my room, being silly and goofy, just starting my day with a lot of energy.
I sing along (like I’m on stage!), do my skincare, and get ready for the day.
I don’t do any work for the first hour, even if it means I have to wake up earlier. It’s so worth it.
Waking up knowing you have a dedicated hour for your favorite things is transformative.
I make my bed right away, read my favorite book while I drink tea, maybe watch a little Gossip Girl, write in my journal, and prepare a delicious and visually appealing breakfast.
Just like that, my day is already infinitely better.
2. Making the Ordinary Special:
This goes along with your self-care in general.
Think about brushing your teeth, doing your skincare, or your hair.
These things can feel like a chore, or you can romanticize your life by adding a few extra steps that make you feel like that girl.
Like, I put cold spoons under my eyes to get rid of puffiness.
Every night after my skincare routine, I treat myself to a gua sha facial massage—it makes me feel so fancy!
Step 2- Practicing 5 Mindset Shifts to Romanticize Your Life
1. Seize the Morning:
When you wake up, you can absolutely check your phone, but the golden rule is: no thinking or stressing about your to-do list, your work, or your plans for later.
Stay completely present in the moment.
It’s morning, you just woke up, so think about how fun the next 20 minutes are going to be, how good your skincare routine will feel, or how much fun you’ll have dancing around your room while you make your bed.
For me, it’s drinking matcha and reading a book. Just thinking about that makes me want to get out of bed, even if I have a long day ahead of me.
2. “How Can I Make This Moment Awesome?” Mindset:
It’s 2025, and we’re done with worrying about the past or future.
We’re all about enjoying right now, and that’s how you romanticize your life.
Let’s say you’re reading a book. How can you make that moment as fun as possible?
Grab a blanket, light a candle, put on some chill music, and make some tea.
Now, reading a book is a whole thing.
Or, if you’re with your friends, take tons of videos and then make a cute montage with your favorite song. It’s a great way to remember the good times and romanticize your day together.
Working from home? Go to a coffee shop and enjoy your latte. A change of scenery can work wonders!

3. Taking Control of Your Narrative:
When frustrating things happen – like delays, traffic jams, or long train rides – it’s your choice how you react.
You’re the author of your experience.
Stuck in traffic?
Instead of letting road rage consume you, put on an audiobook, listen to your favorite playlist, or catch up on a podcast.
Transform dead time into an opportunity for learning or enjoyment.
Always carry a book with you.
A long train journey becomes a chance to get lost in a good story while the world rushes by.
4. Finding Inspiration in Your Idols:
When I was in university and faced with endless studying, I tapped into my inner Blair Waldorf or Rory Gilmore.
I told myself, “I’m that girl, and I get to go to university and learn amazing things. I’m smart, and I’m going to ace these exams!”
It’s a playful and effective way to romanticize even the most daunting tasks.
5. Always Have Something Fun to Look Forward To:
Your day doesn’t end at 5 p.m.!
After school or work, you still have a whole evening of possibilities.
Plan something fun to look forward to, even if it’s just baking cookies while you watch your favorite movie, meeting a friend for dinner, or trying a new recipe.
You deserve to have something enjoyable to anticipate every single day.
Step 3- Infusing Daily Joys into Your Routine
These are simple things you can add to your day to make it better without a lot of effort:

1. Make a Soundtrack for Your Life:
Music is your best friend when you romanticize your life.
Create playlists for every mood and occasion: “Boss Babe,” “Main Character Energy,” “Cozy Night In,” “Focus and Flow,” the possibilities are endless!
This helps you truly feel like the star of your own life.
2. Be a Tourist in Your Own Town:
Explore new places, those little streets and paths you’ve never been down.
You don’t need anyone to tell you where to go. If you see a cute café or a little path, go check it out!
See your city in a new way.
3. Really Enjoy Things:
Take bookstores, for example.
Don’t just rush in, grab a book, and leave. Breathe in the comforting scent of old paper and new print, wander through the different sections, and feel the textures of the covers.
Read a few pages, really consider your choice. Make it mindful and enjoyable and fully indulge in the experience!Â
When I visit a Bath & Body Works store, I love exploring all the new candle scents, carefully smelling each one until I find the perfect match.
I browse different sizes and other products, treating myself to something that sparks joy.
It’s not just shopping—it’s creating a little moment of happiness.
4. What You Wear Changes How You Feel:
If you have a job where you have to dress a certain way, don’t just wear the bare minimum.
Take some time to put together a nice outfit.
If you just bought a new skirt, wear it with a cool jacket and some sunglasses.
You’ll feel so much more confident!
When I dress up, do my hair, and put on makeup, it makes a huge difference.
It gives me main character energy and makes me excited for my day.
And remember, don’t save your favorite clothes for special occasions.
Every day is a special occasion! Life itself is the occasion. Dress as fancy as you like, just because you can.
5. Pinterest is Your Friend:
I used to think doing my makeup was a drag until I started using Pinterest.
Seeing pretty pictures of makeup routines made me excited about it again.
It reminded me how fun it is to put on music, try new colors, and make myself feel cute.
Make Pinterest boards for all the “boring” parts of your life to get your excitement back.
When I was in college, I had a board for dark academia stuff. It inspired me to make studying more fun.
Don’t compare yourself to others. Think about how you can make your life better.
It’s not just about pinning dream vacations or wedding dresses; it’s about finding inspiration for your now life.
Make boards for your current hobbies, your daily routines, even your study aesthetic.
Visualizing these things can help you appreciate them more and find new ways to make them enjoyable.

Homework Time!
Grab a pen and paper because you’ve got some assignments to help you romanticize your life:
Part 1: Curating Your Personal Soundtrack (Music & Mood)
Develop at least three distinct playlists on your preferred music platform (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.).
Each playlist should be designed to evoke a specific mood or accompany a particular activity.
Examples include:
1. “Main Character Energy” (for confidence and motivation)
2. “Cozy Evenings” (for relaxation and winding down)
3. “Focus & Flow” (for studying or working)
4. “Weekend Vibes” (for leisure and fun)
Part 2:Â Solo Date Challenge:
I dare you to take yourself on a solo date this week!
I know it can be scary, but trust me, you’ll be so proud of yourself.
It can be anything – going to a movie by yourself, grabbing a coffee, or just chilling at a cafe.
Even a short solo date can make you feel like the main character.
Part 3: Flip the Script:
Do something you don’t like and then change how you think about it.
Maybe you hate going to the gym. Go, put on your favorite music, and then treat yourself afterward.
Or maybe you have to clean your whole house. Use one of the mindset tricks we talked about to get through it.
Or maybe you have a stressful day at work, but you wear an outfit that makes you feel super confident.
Part 4: Channel Your Inner Idol:
Pick someone you admire and try to act like them. This is great for those days when you’re just not feeling it.
Think, “What would they do?” It could be anyone – a celebrity, a character from a book, or even your parent.
Part 5: Pinterest Power-Up:
Make specific Pinterest boards for your current life.
If you’re studying, make a board for that. If you’re learning to drive, make a board for that.
If you’re just hanging out with friends, make a board for that too! It’ll give you ideas on how to make those times even better.
Create at least three Pinterest boards focused on different aspects of your current life.
Instead of focusing on a distant future, focus on the present moment.
Examples include:
1. “Cozy Study Vibes” (if you’re a student)
2. “Weekend Fun with Friends”
3. “My Favorite Self-Care Rituals”
4. “Delicious & Easy Weeknight Meals”
